In this time of misinformation and disinformation it would be helpful to know Mr. Fusco's credentials with citations for sources of information given. I'd love to pass this very concise, understandable, and well written piece on to others. I just wish it was also well documented. Thanks.

Facts are stubborn things.... China is, by far, the world’s largest emitter of carbon dioxide, putting more than twice as much into the air each year as the U.S. does. China continues to build coal-fired plants. The coal power capacity that started construction in China in 2022 was six times as large as that in all of the rest of the world combined, according to a February report by the Helsinki-based Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air. EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, appearing on "The Story with Martha McCallum," said that the Paris Climate Agreement "did not hold China and India accountable," and that "India didn't have to take any steps in the agreement to reduce CO2 emissions until they received $2.5 trillion in aid. China didn't have to take any steps until the year 2030 The EU represents about a fifth of the world's economy - and was responsible for around 9% of the global share of CO2 emissions in 2019, the third largest emitter. If Americans would dumb down their spending on China junk products we all would be better off. Most Americans don't have the will or discipline to do it.... For the Record

This is a direct result of the city and county governments not requiring full impact fees for new development to fund the support of current and future infrastructure needs. There was a lot of word salad from Mr. Perry, the reality is the current system was not upgraded appropriately over the years as the population growth exploded.

Sadly Mitch you are correct, but the likelihood of either party allowing this change is little to none. The only chance this could possibly happen is if the ranks of the non-affiliated voters grew large enough to support this.

DeSantis cares about wealth and power, not people or the environment. He lacks empathy enough to be useful to wealthy unscrupulous people.

Of course, logically he would position someone who is willing to go along with their donors interests. She's game.

While I commend the passions of Felts and McCann, I don't trust the 180 from Bearden. I feel he has done this reversal because of how bad KVO and Turner lost and he is looking at his possible re-election in 2 years, not because he no longer feels property owners rights supersede the public concerns. Where was he BEFORE the primary election in August. Also I am not sure denying the final phase of an approved plan at Final Plat is the right place for this fight. This fight should be at the beginning of the process, at GDP or Preliminary. To amend a final plat the developer would need to go back to the beginning to revise and to redo the infrastructure already in place. Be prepared for the county being sued. I remember a site plan approved years ago that when it came up when I worked for the county to finalize and we tried to lessen the lots and staff recommended against it, we got sued and lost. Fight this hard at beginning, maybe we wouldn't have two big site plans past the FDAB approved.

This house is on a main Thorofare. Back in the day it might’ve been appropriate but if you drive down that road today. state road 70 you will find businesses, churches, even a storage area that is fenced with shipping containers. And they’re worried about a contemporary three story housing development. It could’ve been worse. The storage container place could’ve came over across the street and they would be looking at rusted shipping containers all legal by the way. Forward Progress not perfection….

The Florida Ethics Commission is a toothless joke. That is just how DeSantis and our State Legislators intended. Even if you allege an official violated a State statute, as Satcher did by falsely claiming State law required him to spend public money to issue new voter information cards, the ethics commission said their job is not to interpret the law. Then whose job is it? The law determines whether it was an ethical violation. Florida, including local government is a State where there is only accountability at the ballot box.

— impeachment will remain possible — replacing magats in the 2026 mid-term elections is the only path to that. So long as the magats control the House of Representatives and the Senate, that would never take place, therefore, it behoves voters to elect replacements at every level. It may be up to the voters, but they have to find one good candidate (early) for each office, support that one candidate financially, and help campaign for that one candidate in order to win against the votes of those conned by the magats into voting against their own interest... the primaries are especially important.

Standing up to this awful Governor. Hope we see more spine from legislative leaders. Stop passing unconstitutional laws that only make GrayRobinson rich in legal fees to defend - paid by taxpayers.

Need coverage of how this would be affected by the proposed right to clean and healthy waters amendment to the state constitution. The push for toilet to tap for drinking water could be a major motivation to get clean and healthy water into the rights granted by the state constitution — presume that having the constitutional right would assure us of a scientific evaluation being the determination, not a political decison made by those legislatutors proven to disregard negative effects on the citizens when in competition with that of their campaign fund "donors". Let's get the amendment before the voters so they may decide the issue — then we would know that our health would be top priority for any decision. https://www.floridarighttocleanwater.org/

Not sure I totally trust Bearden's change of heart. I think he's just more afraid of "grassroots" than the developers at this time because he wants to be re-elected. I do think he will lose his PAC contributions if he continues on this path. I'm going to watch him closely before I decide who to vote for in two years, depending on who runs against him. Definitely, will vote against Rahn.
